Our JAA Pro Pilot Course schedules a complete program of training Modules to allow the ab-initio student to progress from a level of no flying experience to the issuance of a JAA Frozen ATPL.
The individual is able to select from a number of start dates for each particular Module and may either complete all of the training continuously or take time off in between sessions. Initial training begins with the Private Pilot’s License and associated ratings with structured experience building 200 hours.
THE JAA PRO PILOT COURSE
$39,990
Pre-entry requirements:
• Be able to read and understand English
• Have a JAA class 1 Medical issued
• Be at least 18 years of age
It is commonly known that some students will not get their ratings in the minimum hour requirements. Orlando Flight Training has allowed some additional time in this course to ensure you work towards a realistic budget. If you complete the course in the minimum hours, you can use the additional time to build additional hours.
The course has been built utilizing the Piper Cadet (PAA28), a four-seat aircraft that is more comfortable for you to learn. Other schools will reduce their price by replacing the Piper Cadet with a Cessna 152, just to match our price!
When you complete this program with us, we will give you a complimentary two hours in the Piper Cadet. This will take those who have completed in the minimum time to a total of 200 hours.
The course duration is estimated to be completed in 10½ months. Although this is a very realistic timetable, it is always prudent in flight training to add an additional month or so onto such a large course, to allow for any delays in your flight training
(i.e., weather, maintenance delays, etc.).
As outlined on our website, the Frozen ATPL course is made up as follows:

THE COURSE
It is commonly known that some students will not get their ratings in the minimum hour requirements. OFT has planned for this and allowed some additional time in the Pro Pilot Course to ensure that you are working on a realistic budget. If you complete the course in minimum hours, you can use that extra time to build additional hours.
The course price has been packaged using the Piper Cadet, a four seat aircraft that is more comfortable for you to learn in. Other schools will reduce their price by replacing the Piper with a C-152 just to match our price.
When you complete the program with us, we will then give you two hours in the PA-28 at no cost to you. This will take those who have completed in the minimum time to 200 hours.
The course duration is approximately 10½ months for those who finish in the minimum times. However, although this is a very realistic timetable, it is always prudent in flight training to add a few weeks onto such a large course, to allow for any delays in weather etc.
Phase 1
The FAA Private Pilots License (PPL) is all that is required to commence training for the JAA ATPL. This training is conducted under FAA Part 61. Obtaining the FAA PPL is more cost and time effective than the JAA PPL. Obtaining the FAA license only requires you to complete one written exam, rather than seven for the JAA. You also receive a night rating, which is something you will need for the issuance of the Commercial Pilots License. Some other advantages of the FAA PPL is once you complete your skills test with the FAA Examiner, you are issued and handed a license that same day. JAA requires a wait time of up to 60 days before
the license is in your hands.
ATPL Residential Ground School
The JAA ATPL ground school is 24 weeks in a climate controlled classroom, studying for the 14 written examinations. You will be given access to the online classroom to study outside of lectures, ensuring that you achieve the passes first time. This course experiences first time pass rates as high as 98%.
This can be intergraded into any phase of the training on completion of Phase 1
Phase 2
The FAA Instrument Rating is conducted under the structured FAA Part 141 program. You will fly 40 hours of instrument time. The 40 hours flown at our USA aircraft prices, means that you get a 40 hour exemption from the JAA IR training requirements. Not only do you get to build the hours under instrument conditions, but you save a vast amount of money at the same time.
Phase 3
Structured Hour Building can be done a couple different ways. Most students hour build on the weekends while in the ATPL Residential Class. This allows you to remain current and proficient with your flying skills. We offer designated structured hour building routes to multiple airports throughout Florida. Students who have received their Instrument Rating can now choose to fly away. Las Vegas only 35 hours round trip, New York only 20 hours round trip, you can now turn your pleasant experience into a memorable trip of a life time.
Overnight trips are subject to approval from the Chief Pilot.
Phase 4
The JAA Multi Engine Commercial License is your last course here in Florida. In as little as three week’s time, you will be the holder of a license that will allow you to start earning
from all your hard work.
FAA to JAA Instrument Conversion
This is the conversion of the FAA Instrument Rating to the JAA Instrument Rating. This is completed at our associate company, Cabair in Bournemouth, England. You will fly 15-20 hours and sit a flight test. Many people manage the JAA IR conversion with 20 hours or more.
This conversion course is not included and will cost between 6,500 GBP and 7,500 GBP.
Now you can start to send those CV’s out to the airlines, or talk to our career advisors in the UK. 98% of all Cabair graduates found employment within 12 months of completion.
Allowances
If you have flown before you get here, we will accept this towards your license and credit you accordingly at the Pro-Pilot aircraft rate of $99 per hour.
| EXAMPLE: |
If you have flown 35 hours prior to arrival |
| |
$39,990 - (35 x $99) = New course price of $36,315 |
If you have a complete JAA Private Pilots License, $3,960 will be deducted from the course price, and then you will be charged only for the training required to convert this to the FAA License. Usually this can be done in around 10 hours, which also includes your night rating.
